a) As far as masah on leather socks is concerned, in this matter the opinion of permissibility is almost unanimous.

However, there is some difference regarding masah on socks made out of wool, cotton, nylon etc. Some put conditions to the permissibility of masah on such socks. One famous personality of present times says that masah on socks of all types is permissible without any restrictions.

In this day and age when Muslims are being attacked by people of almost all faiths, it is quite sad and disturbing that Muslims are busy attacking each other. Why is it that we, who belong to the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ, have fallen so low that we take not a second before declaring each other of being from those who practice shirk or kufr?

Our internal issues should be our internal issues and differences amongst the Ummah should be dealt with in a civilized manner. It is no wonder why we, the Muslim nation, cannot today stand on our feet and hold firm our ground and voice for our rights in the international community.

Delaying the Salah in Jama'ah because of Preparing Meals

cookingQuestion: To attain rewards, many people in our area arrange for Naan, meat, Kichra, Pulao, Kari, gravies and other types of food to be fed in the Masjid. This however leads to an eight to ten minute delay in the Maghrib salah. Someone has mentioned that rather than earning rewards, the people are responsible for committing a sin because they are delaying the salah. He says that this program should therefore be called off. The food that the poor were therefore receiving in the name of Iftar has stopped. Is it really a sin to delay the salah by ten minutes?

Missing Fasts because of Studies

Although we have the strength to fast, it affects our studies because our classes take place from eleven in the morning to six in the evening. Furthermore, we are writing our qualifying exams in a months time and the only time we have to prepare for it is the hold month of Ramadan. Failing these exams would be tremendous loss to us. Can we miss the fasts of Ramadan with the intention of repeating them afterwards?
